Album Description
The album Car Window is Nimbus Luna’s latest contribution to the world of quality pop songwriting. Musical influences from bands such as The Replacements and the Afghan Whigs serve them well as they have created a 14 song record that holds its sonic integrity from begining to end. Simply put, there isn’t a bad song on this record…. More >>

First off, let me say that Nimbus Luna seems like a group of fine young fellows with intentions of serving up a familiar flavored blend of pleasant pop melodies wrapped around a somber and introspective center of lyrics. This is not a bad idea mind you. It’s just that it’s not a very fresh idea. Their live set, on the other hand, seems to afford them the opportunity to better showcase their intended moodiness. Being the type of person that purchases nearly every cd of most bands I see which don’t make me vomit, I bought the cd with hopes of gaining a stronger look into their collective heart. With such liberal purchasing standards, you can imagine how I am no stranger to disappointment. And what I was left with upon my 3rd full-length listen to Car Window was a very vague glimpse within a nebulous cloud of whispered pain. Although the music was constructed within a happy, unharmful, and simple frame, the end result left me with a feeling that I had perhaps been fishing in a puddle or trying to catch a glimpse of color on a finely structured grey wall.

With bands like Nimbus Luna hailing from it, it is possible that Long Beach, California may just be the new hot bed for indie rock. On their debut record, Nimbus Luna showcase a sonic shower of romantic songs to snuggle up to a loved one with. Although most modern rock love songs tend toward sappiness, there is no pretension Ron Legaspi’s well-crafted lyrics. Backed by a group well schooled lads, the group traverses all manner of situations that even the best of us find ourselves in. Bravo to Legaspi and crew for the fine record, we will wait on the edge of our seats for a sophomore release!
You might enjoy this record if you like: The Dashboard Confessional, The December Drive, or Death Cab for Cutie

As one listens to the first few tracks of Nimbus Luna’s “Car Window,” it becomes painfully apparent that NL are kind of a one-trick pony. Not that that in itself is bad, but their one trick isn’t really that impressive to begin with. Sure, the Long Beach natives offer a generous blend of pop and rock set to singer Ron Legaspi’s romantic lyrics, but as the record goes on, one has to check their cd player to make sure that the “repeat one track” button was not accidentally depressed on account of the songs sounding so similar. You might enjoy NL if you like Vertical Horizon or Lifehouse sans the heavy guitars.

I was so incredibly impressed upon listening to the cd. This is nimbus luna’s greatest achievenemt yet. It astonished me in that it surpasses by far their previous albums which i was convinced were insurmountable. ALL of the songs are wonderful and can be listened to repeatitively without tire. Ron Legaspi has outrageous vocal and songwriting talents that add to and benefit toward Nimbus Luna’s much-appreciated uniqueness. In summation, this is a danm good album in every aspect!!!
